David Lomba

General Manager

David Lomba is the General Manager of Charleston, SC’s Mexican eatery, Maya. Born and raised in Virginia, he got his first job at an ice cream shop at age 14 and was immediately drawn to the fast-paced culture of the hospitality industry. 

Lomba went on to study Hospitality Management and Business at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, VA. After graduating in 2019, Lomba took a management internship at the Massanutten Four Seasons Resort in the Shenandoah Valley where he continued honing his leadership and event management skills. In 2020, Lomba moved to Charleston for a Front of House Manager position at a local Vietnamese spot before joining the Indigo Road Hospitality Group as General Manager at Maya in July 2022. 

At Maya, Lomba strives to build and lead a collaborative and communicative environment so everyone feels prepared to deliver excellent service. He encourages creativity and generosity amongst his team, mentoring others and helping them build transferable skills they can carry with them into any endeavor. 

When he’s not managing the front-of-house, you can find Lomba planning his next adventure, kayaking, spending time on the water, or volunteering weekly at the Neighborhood House.
